I have been waiting for this day like a little kid peeking through the oven window watching her cookies bake. Now we've taken the first gooey bite and it was delicious on so many levels. Did you enjoy last night's first episode of Steampunk'd on GSN??
As your host I'd like to welcome to the world of STEAMPUNK'D where form and function collide with fantastic fashion and design. Steampunk is a culture. Not only is it a fashion, but it's a lifestyle, a design, a look, a story. You can consider it anything from the Victorian Age to science fiction and all of the technical bits in between.
As you recall from mai earlier blog post, I've dabbled in my own little world of Steampunk. Maybe it was Steampunk with an effervescence of goth. Whatever it was, I knew I was making a statement. You may recognize Steampunk by anything with an industrialized type of feel, that dark grim, shift of gears, that beautiful opulent of dark tone fabrics. There's an energy. There's a sexiness. It's a huge culture that lives within every community.
Nowadays I still venture into the style behind the Steampunk culture, howevs I gravitate towards the sci-fi and glam end of Steampunk with Mai own spin on "steam'. Let's call it Mistypunk. How I put my look together everyday is best described when compared to driving a car. Daniel Musto and I play "driver" by configuring a killer outfit, then Noogie Thai is sitting in the passenger side creating a hair masterpiece, and Uzmee Krakovzki is in the backseat pulling it all together with the right make-up. These rolls can be interchangeable depending on what piece of mai look I want to be the driving force.
Since we're on the subject, let's get to talking about mai favorite part of the show – the fashion! Each week I will be blogging details to each look and BTS stuff around it. So, let's break down the opening outfit.
Each look takes about three hours to prepare for hair, makeup, and wardrobe. But hey, I am NOT complaining, I am living Mai fashion dreams! There's something very empowering about Steampunk. Daniel Musto, my stylist for the show, knew I wanted to kick off our season very sexy, glamourous, and with a reptilious edge.
Accessories on fleek.
Heels not made for walking.
Ahem. Noogie does it again.
Uzmee killlls it when it comes to makeup. I mean...check it out here. What a show off.
Thank you Glam team (and the handsome Daniel Musto who's pictured here in glittery spirit.) Here's to a steamy season 1! Here are the details of what I'm wearing: Dress - Dan Richters. Shoes - Cosmo and Nathalia on Melrose.
And that's a wrap. Tortilla-like hair chips and all.
Stay tuned for more deets on the final outfit for episode 1! That red leather number?? Yaaaas.
